HOMEMADE BODY SCRUB: 3 WAYS

all 3 From as far back as I can remember, my Mom would make homemade body scrubs with either sugar or salt and oil.  She would put these concoctions on her feet, arms, legs, face, etc. Frankly, I thought she was nuts, until one day when she tested it on me.  Oh my gosh you guys, so amazing!  From there on out, I was hooked.  I started making scrubs myself, and depending upon the benefits, I would add all sorts of different ingredients to them.

I am really excited to share these super simple homemade body scrubs with you!  All of the ingredients are either already in your possession, and if not, then very easy to find.

sugar ingredients

Raw Sugar + Vitamin E Oil Scrub

1 c. raw sugar 1/4 c. coconut oil 1 tbsp. vitamin E oil

Use: Face, neck and chest.

Application: Gently rub on face, neck and chest in circular motion.  Leave on for about 5 minutes, and rinse with warm water.

Benefits: Vitamin E is fantastic for many reasons - it moisturizes skin, helps diminish scars, has great cleansing properties, evens out skin tone and so much more!

coffee ingredients

Brown Sugar + Coffee Scrub

3/4 c. brown sugar 1/4 c. ground coffee 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/3 c. olive oil

Use: Body (legs, arms, tummy, back, bottom).

Application: I like to keep mine in the shower, and once my body is all wet, I lather it on for about 5 minutes.  Super invigorating!

Benefits: Cinnamon is not only a natural antioxidant, but it helps to alleviate sore muscles.  We all know the awesomeness of caffeine, but an added bonus is that it tightens skin!  Yay!

salt ingredients

Epsom Salt + Coconut Oil Scrub

1 c. Epsom salt 1/4 c. coconut oil 10 drops essential oils

Use: Feet.  Technically you could use this anywhere on the body, but I prefer it on my feet because of the coarseness of the salts.

Application: I like to soak my feet in warm water, then rub the scrub on.  I let it sit for a few minutes, then put my feet back in the warm water (with salts on).  Ahhh...so relaxing!

Benefits: Releases tension and stress, and leaves feet smooth and callous free.  The coconut oil is moisturizing, while whatever essential oil you use gives an added benefit of the herb, while leaving your tootsies smelling nice!

I really enjoyed sharing this, and as you can tell, I LOVE scrubs! Ha!  Do you scrub?  If so, what kind so you use?  If not, think you'll try it?
