TIPS FOR IMPROVING WELLNESS IN THE WORKPLACE

static1-squarespace-comGood morning, friends!  I hope this day is treating you well!  Today I want to talk to you about wellness at work.  How many of you find that while you are working, you feel sleepy, stiff, or even cranky?  Possibly craving a cup of coffee or a piece of chocolate around 3PM?  Setting passion and purpose aside (that's a wholeeeeee other post), today I'm here to share a few things that you can do to improve your wellness while working.  This is geared towards those that work in an office, but can be adjusted for those that work in other environments (retail, construction, restaurant, etc.).

TIPS FOR IMPROVING WELLNESS IN THE WORKPLACE

Young woman stretching at desk, rear viewStretch.  Gentle neck and shoulder rolls can be done while seated, as can wrist and ankle rotations.  I would suggest getting up every 30 minutes to move your body, even if it is for 30 seconds.  Gently bend, twist and rotate, walk to the break room, anything!  Just move!  Often times we get so busy, we forget that that our bodies need stimulation, too!

Fresh-air-pictureGet some fresh air.  How often do you take a deep breath of fresh air, and feel so much better? Almost always, right?  Also, vitamin D works wonders!

snacksHealthy snacks.  If you get hungry during the day, instead of heading to the vending machine for candy (unless that is actually what your body is craving), or letting your stomach growl, have a healthy snack.  I like to keep things like nuts, fruit (fresh or dried), coconut water, cheese, Kind bards, dark chocolate, etc.   

7-reasons-for-drinking-more-waterDrink water.  Whether you're at work or not, water is essential!  Make sure you're sipping enough to stay hydrated.

ergonomic_guidelines_002Ergonomics.  If you sit at a desk, this is so important!  Is your computer eye level?  Do you find yourself straining to look up or down?  Many companies will even pay for an ergonomic specialist to come out to the job site to fix your desk so it is proper to YOU!  Also, have you ever used a stability ball chair?  They are awesome!  Or even a standing desk if you're able to!

30-Classic-Work-Outfit-Ideas-18Attire.  Depending upon your work environment, this can change, however, proper attire is so important.  What I mean by that is, are your shoes comfortable?  Does your clothing fit and feel fitted?  When our clothes are too constricting, it can cause lots of stress on the body (especially if you're sitting for most of the day).
