flowers-desk-office-vintage-largeHappy Friday!  I recently put out a poll request asking for feedback on future posts, and a large number of you requested that I write about how to stay organized when life gets hectic. Now, I am by no means an expert in this area, but I will say that being organized is something that comes natural for me.  Don't get me wrong, I still have the occasional chaotic day just like everyone else!  I feel like if you own your own business (or want to), organization is a quality that is super important.  So, today I am here to share some ways that help me stay organized, ESPECIALLY when life gets hectic (IE: during the holidays). CENTER YOURSELF & REMEMBER TO BREATHE

This may seem like a no-brainer to some, but how often do we find ourselves just needing to chill?  I find that if I begin my day centered, then I usually continue that way.  If at any point in time I drift off course, I stop what I am doing and take a few deep breaths.  This is SO helpful for me.

Yes, I am a "list-maker."  I LOVE lists!  Every morning I make a list of everything that I need to get done that day, and put a star next to the items that are a must (usually just two or three), and the rest of the items can usually wait.  For example, for me, shipping an item at UPS is more important than picking-up my comforter at the dry cleaners.  I make a list for just about everything: grocery store, holiday gifts, blog post ideas, etc.

We have an area near our entry way that has one of those 9-cube shelves (we got ours at Target, but I know Ikea has a similar product).  It's practical, simple, and most importantly contains lots of random stuff!  On the top I have a tray for our mail and keys, that way we (cough-cough, Greg) always know where our important items are.  For the bottom, I bought a few cloth basket inserts, and they are handy for anything from Charlie's gear, to reusable shopping bags, and more.  The other cubes are for my purse, and shoes.  Whatever type of contraption you have, I suggest to keep it simple, clear, and organized.

As much as I love perusing Target and some of my other favorite stores, online shopping (especially through Amazon) is so helpful.  It can be a one-stop shop for so much, and limits you having to go from store to store.  Plus, Amazon Prime has free shipping and super great deals, which is amazing!

This is HUGE!  There are times where you absolutely need to do something yourself, and then there are times where you think you need to do something yourself, but can actually ask someone else for assistance.  Reaching out for help does not mean that you incapable of being a super hero.  In fact, it makes you more of a super hero because you have the self-realization to recognize when things can be kindly handed off.

I hope these tips on staying organized are helpful for you!  How do YOU stay organized when life gets hectic?  I would love to know your tips, too!
